Journeys and Treasure Await in Western Australia

Western Australia is one of the most unique and captivating regions in the world – across vast plains, stunning mountain ranges and enchanting beaches one finds endless treasures to be discovered.

Naturally those who migrate West from the Eastern shores or from Europe see Perth as the place to settle – and there’s good reason why. A sprawling and diverse city boasting just under 2 million inhabitants – 30 percent of which were born outside of Australia, meaning new arrivals have no problem meeting fellow expats and settling into daily life.

Perth is frequently ranked as one of the worlds most liveable cities, a testament to its effortless balance of lifestyle, career opportunities and climate (Perth claims to have more sunny days than any other Australian capital city, although it can get stiflingly hot in the middle of summer, just the way some mad dogs like it albeit!)

If food of the highest order is a necessity, then Perth offers a delightful smattering of gastronomic pleasures – from alfresco beach and sidewalk cafes to riverside and beachfront restaurants. And when you fancy doing it yourself with a family picnic or romantic date, Kings Park and the hills of the Darling Ranges provide superb settings.

The predominant complaint about Perth tends to revolve around its perceived high cost of living, which when seen out of context can seem extortionate. After all Perth boasts some of the highest average wages in the Western world, and is a magnet for high skill workers, even after this years mining slowdown.

Perhaps the best facet of life is the outdoor adventurism and lifestyle that Perthites enjoy – literally taking to sport like mosquitos to a nudist colony! Be it volleyball, yachting, fishing and surfing or attending cricket, football, Rugby, AFL and all the rest, there’s simply no stopping Perth’s appetite for physical activity.

Perth is a fantastic place to to base yourself with so much to see within the vicinity and throughout the broader State. Spanning 2,400 Kilometers, from north to south, Western Australia proves that travel is a love affair with the journey just as much as the incredible destinations.

Wine and dine on a tour of the Margaret River, explore the beautiful Rottnest Island or safari through Pinnacles desert, not to mention the wonders of Geographe Bay, notably the magnificent Dunsborough and Brunbury – around 2 hours drive from Perth city, perfect for day trip adventures.

Then there’s the majestic North West. Stroll or hitch a ride on a camel through the pristine white sand and swim in the clear water of Cable Beach in Broome. The Kimberley coast offers so much its hard to know where to start – land at the Horizontal Waterfalls in a float plane to check out this incredible natural phenomenon, snorkel amongst the rich marine life of the Rowleys Shoals or just hike inland and discover the unspoilt treasures in water pools and falls.

If adventure is your cup of tea – then why not give Western Australia a go, you’ll never look back!
