Moving house essentials
The Do’s:
- Have everything packed and ready for transport by your removal day.
- Pack important items and valuables in a separate box and take them with you.
- Check the instructions for the transit requirements of your appliances, as some appliances must be transported in a specific position.
- Wash all outdoor tools and furniture a few days prior to moving.
- Put all moving dates in your calendar.
The Don’ts:
- Move important documents or put them in storage. Take them with you.
- Move jewellery or money or put them in storage. Take them with you.
- Move or store perishable foods. Start using everything you can from your fridge, freezer and pantry and don’t replace these items prior to moving unless necessary. You can go shopping once you’ve moved.
- Overload drawers. It may seem like a smart way to pack, but it usually leads to breakages or damage.
- Put breakables in drawers. They will break.
