Your Moving Journey to New Zealand
There’s a few processes and requirements to make your move a successful one. But don’t worry! We’ll be with you every step of the way, so you can plan and prepare. Make sure you bookmark this page in your web browser, so you can refer back to it at any time.
Step 1. Moved Booked
- You’ve receive a Booking Confirmation from us – so you know you’re in our system.
- You’ll receive an invoice for your move with payment instructions.
- You’ll need to complete the required forms and provide the necessary documents.
- You’ll receive an additional invoice if you require insurance cover.
Step 2. Pre-Move
- Three days before packing/moving your Move Co-ordinator will check in to make sure you are all prepared and ready for the big day. Where possible, they will also give you an indication of the start time so you co-ordinate the rest of you life. They will also follow up any outstanding forms/documents and payments.
- The day before packing/moving our operations department will call you to confirm the intended start time so there are no surprises.
Step 3. Pack/Move Day
- You’ll get to meet the awesome crew who will give you a run down on what to expect on your packing/moving day.
- Your packing and move is completed, with your goods safely on their way to their destination.
Step 4. Pre-Shipment
- Our shipping department will give you a Pre-Shipment Advice confirming the name of the ship your goods will be travelling on together with the ETA to the destination port in New Zealand.
- Your goods will be loaded in a shipping container at our depot and delivered to the port of departure.
Step 5. Shipping
- Once the ship has departed Australia you will receive a Shipping Confirmation with any updates to the ship and the ETA to the port of arrival.
Step 6. Pre-Arrival
- Our New Zealand imports department will send you an Arrival Notification to introduce themselves and confirm the intended arrival of your shipment together with an update of the ETA of the ship to the port of arrival.
- You’ll be asked for any outstanding/required forms and documents so we can begin the processing of border clearances with the customs and quarantine services.
Step 7. Arrival
- Once the ship arrives we’ll collect the container holding your goods and transfer it to our depot for unloading.
- We’ll finalise customs clearance and inspection by the quarantine service.
- You’ll receive update notifications along the way.
Step 8. Delivery Day
- Once the customs and quarantine clearances are in place you’ll get a call from our operations department to confirm delivery of your goods.
- The truck will arrive and our amazing friendly crew will unload and place your items and boxes in the required rooms, making it easy for you to unpack.
- We’ll take of all the plastic packaging and take it away.
- There will be one final check, making sure you have all your belongings and then we’ll leave you to settle in.
Step 9. Post-Move
- While you won’t hear from us again, we would love to hear from you! We have thousands of reviews on our website and would love to add yours to the mix. So, make sure you complete our customer review request and provide your feedback.

And if you’re taking any type vehicle there’s a lot to know. Much like Australia they have very strict biosecurity requirements that you must be aware of.

Our Box Shop has quality cardboard boxes in all shapes and sizes to safely transport your prescious goods. You can either pick up from our nearest branch, or we can deliver to your door.
